This release includes the enhancements and fixes described below.

Improved VMware Backups in release 10.8.2 and later

We've improved our VMware backup offering by implementing a more efficient VMware API that optimizes both full and incremental/differential backups. These APIs also reduce the amount of unnecessary data transferred, leading to smaller backup sizes. While creating new full backups is optional, it's recommended to take full advantage of the reduced backup sizes for your VMware VMs.

Security updates

Applied appliance security updates and operational fixes.

Windows agent

This release includes an updated Windows agent. The 10.8.2 agent is recommended for most 64-bit Windows assets.

  Resolved UI hanging issues and arbitrary limits for cold copy thresholds.

  Resolved issues with adding/mounting Google third-party cloud targets.

Linux agent

   Fixed a timeout issue that could cause pairing connections to hang, resulting in failed pairing attempts and backup failures if already paired.

Windows agent

  Fixed a timeout issue that could cause pairing connections to hang, resulting in failed pairing attempts and backup failures if already paired.

  Fixed an issue with pairing Hyper-V cluster nodes.

  Image-level backup – Resolved a snapshot issue that could result in the job being cancelled.

  Windows image-level replicas – Addressed a race condition that could cause replica restores to fail.

  SQL backup – Resolved an issue that generated errors in the Windows event viewer for backups, regardless of status.
